Amcomri Film Partners established to support independent filmmakers through a multi-million-dollar movie fund

Independent film producers are set to gain a new source of support with the establishment of  Amcomri Film Partners (AFP), a new business of the Amcomri Entertainment Inc.

With access to a multi-million-dollar movie fund, AFP will provide an end-to-end production and distribution path for prominent independent filmmakers.

AFP will be able to support independent producers seeking finance and call on the expertise of the team at 101 Films to arrange international distribution for their films.

AFP has already provided more than $1million of direct funding and $650,000 of downstream distribution guarantees for the re-imagining of the David Cronenberg film, ‘Rabid’, directed by the Soska Sisters and starring Laura Vandervoort. Direct funding has also been made available for Wonderfilm Media’s ‘Disturbing the Peace’ starring Guy Pearce. 

Larry Howard of AMG describes the launch of AFP as a natural extension of the fast-growing Entertainment Division. “Having partially financed five productions over the past few months, access to the Amcomri Fund will enable us to extend our interests in the creation and ownership of content to feed our downstream distribution business around the world.”

AFP will be headed by Larry Howard and AMG Chairman Paul McGowan, together with Andy Lyon, CEO of 101 Films. Michael Walker, producer of ‘Left Behind’ and ‘Rabid’, will head up the North American activities.
